Department Responsibilities
The primary function of the Clerk-Treasurer is to serve as the fiscal officer of the Town with responsibilities for:
Receiving and disbursing monies on the order of the Town Council.
Keeping financial accounts and providing financial statements to the Town Council.
Retaining custody of the Town Council records and books.
Maintaining books for the Town’s Utilities
The Clerk-Treasurer is an elected position with terms of four years.

A BUSINESS LICENSE IS REQUIRED WITHIN the Town’s B1, B2, B3 & RB Zones, no person, corporation, or other legal entities shall engage in the selling, display for sale of goods, wares, merchandise, food, beverages, or the advertising thereof at retail or wholesale, or provide entertainment or exhibition for a fee or admission charge or operate short-term rentals for one night or more (hotel, motel, tourist rental, bed & breakfast, home stay, etc.) or private pay parking lots without first obtaining a business license.
In order to do business in the Town of Nashville you must first obtain a Nashville Business License which is good from January 1 to December 31 each calendar year. The fee for the yearly business license is $75. You may download and save the 2024 Nashville Business License Application to your computer, complete the form and email it to Debbie at dferry@townofnashville.org
Complete and return the application and $75 fee to the Office of the Clerk-Treasurer at PO Box 446, Nashville, IN 47448 or deposit in our drop box to the right of the Town Hall front doors at 200 Commercial Street. All information is required, incomplete license applications will not be accepted.
You may pay your Business License Fee with cash, check or money order. You may also pay with a credit/debit card online at PayGov.US, or by calling PayGov at 1-866-480-8552 (LOCATION CODE 3117). There is a service charge for using this service.

Please keep in mind that your Annual Business License is to be obtained by January 31 of each year. Failure to obtain the required license may result in a monetary penalty. ALL INFORMATION IS REQUIRED. Incomplete license applications will not be accepted.
If you are planning to relocate your business, change existing signage, install new signage or have plans for exterior renovations/repairs, it is important that you call the Office of the Town Administration at (812) 988-5526, to obtain the necessary information pertaining to these issues. Itinerant Business License
In order to have an itinerant business in the Town of Nashville you must first obtain a Nashville Itinerant Business License which is good for a total of 15 days from January 1 to December 31 each calendar year.
