Full-Time Utility Tech for Water, Sewer & Street Departments

The Town of Nashville is accepting applications for the position of full-time Utility Tech for Water, Sewer and Street Departments. Hours of work will be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Must be willing to work weekends, nights and holidays (as scheduled or as needed).

Must have Valid Indiana Driver’s License. Initial background checks and substance testing will be required. After hire, random drug testing. Starting wage will be determined upon experience. Successful candidate will be required to go through a ninety (90) day probationary period.

The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge in completing the following job responsibilities:

  • Be able to perform duties and tasks in adverse weather conditions.

  • Be able to use shovels, pipe wrenches, hammers, cordless equipment and any other equipment such as these.

  • Have an ability to operate heavy equipment and or the willingness to learn.

  • Must be a team player.

  • Ability to problem solve and think outside the box to complete a task safely.

  • Ability to pull and to back up a trailer into position.

  • Some knowledge on working with electricity safely.

  • The ideal candidate will have earned a high school diploma (GED). Previous experience in utilities is desired.

  • In addition, the ideal candidate will have skills and abilities in the following areas:

  • Computer software skills required include: Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • The ability to perform multiple tasks at once with the ability to prioritize time is required.

  • The ability to operate a computer, printer, copy machine, scanner, fax machine, and other office equipment is required.

  • The ability to speak, read and write in English is required.

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee will frequently stand; walk; and lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
