Project 46 - Southern Indiana Regional Climate Alliance Kick-off

Regional Leaders Gather To Launch Bipartisan, Cross-Sector
Climate Change Efforts

WHAT: In October 2022, Mayors Hamilton of Bloomington and Lienhoop of Columbus hosted the first-ever Regional Climate Convening, bringing together approximately 100 critical players from Bartholomew, Brown, and Monroe Counties from the private, nonprofit, educational, and government sectors. The half-day gathering addressed the challenges of climate change and explored preparation, adaptation, and mitigation measures. The two community foundations of Bloomington and Columbus areas helped sponsor the event. Learn more about the October 2022 event at: https://bton.in/Xe4Lh

This effort will continue with leadership from three counties - Monroe, Bartholomew, and Brown - gathering this Friday in Nashville and committing to launch a regional climate coalition.

WHO: Remarks from Columbus Mayor Jim Lienhoop, Nashville Town Manager Sandie Jones, and Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton will address the next steps. Business owners, community members, community groups, and members of the press are encouraged to attend. A video of Friday’s program will be made available after the event.
